Maybe not, but I-- [ He just shrugs his shoulder. ] I'm not comfortable right now, especially not down here. People are watching.
[ Even if they're not. The creeping feeling of paranoia, of being watched--it all started here, and added to Nathan's natural paranoia and the additional concern he's developed as Head of Communications, there's really nothing for it. He's always going to be prickly about taking precautions. ]
[As much as he'd like to smoke while he rattles this off, it'll just make him more sick, so he buries his head back into his hands with his elbows on his knees and speaks up only enough to ensure that Nathan can hear. Not that there are a lot of people in the 002 section of lockers left - and any of those he'd be willing to tell.
Deep breath, and it tumbles out all in clipped, precise tones:]
Think it was from before - on the ship. Two military guys were in one of the halls, guardin' a room. Cold as shit, dark. Bunch of screams comin' from it. Mechanical sounds- [he vaguely waves a hand] - whatever. They were talkin' about how they weren't supposed to talk about it - [an ill-humored huff] - neither of 'em wanted to be there. Didn't like what was going on. Sounded like they were forced into it. Government shit, maybe.
[ It's already late anyway. Most people have gone off to do whatever they do when they disperse from the locker-room. It's not wholly a comfortable quiet. Back here, it seems to Nathan that the feeling of being watched hasn't wholly departed. He'd rather be in the gardens. He'd always rather be in the gardens. ]
[That's a shared sentiment. Even without the feeling of being watched, the medbay and lockers and all of that shit hold too many bad memories for him to be comfortable. But moving? Not an option. So if he's terse, well, aren't they all.]
No. Just saw the hallway - [a huff] - could be any goddamn hallway, here.
