No, you don't have to. [ the denial is automatic, and jenna rubs a hand over her face. ] Actually, no. I want it anyway, so now you can't take it back.

[ she leans their shoulders together after a second, lips pressed together in a line for a moment because she can't help but wonder what else this ship can do to all of them-- she's not sure the jenna sommers who woke up the first day would recognize the woman she is now. ]

Are you okay? [ 'what did you do' is a close second demand, but by now she can't make herself want it more. ]

Ha. Well alright then.

[ It's said with absolutely no amusement. Nathan huffs and drops both of his hands into his lap. She knows him well enough to know that there's something up there, that he had to come all the way down here for a reason, and sooner or later he'll get up the guts to get the whole thing out.

Comms was responsible for bringing them here. A signal got out, while we were working on the external systems, and I... I'm concerned that maybe I put us on Ward's radar.

[ laughing isn't the appropriate response but it's all jenna can do, balling up her fists and shoving them against her eyes childishly after. ]

Sorry, I just-- that doesn't make you responsible. It's... not unrelated, but I'm challenging you on responsible right now.

[ she leans into him again, jostling his shoulder with her own like she would with mason when he needs something less intense than serious talks; it's not the same but it's close enough to feel right. ] I know you're not going to listen, but I still wanted to say it.

[ ward is another matter and jenna knows it. she sighs, biting her lower lip for a moment. ] You probably did, but I keep... daring him to come make me shut up, I guess, so my advice there is awful right now. [ stupid as it is, she can't help but want to be able to say it all to his face before--

just before. ] He doesn't get to do it again. I know how that sounds-- [ stupid, simplistic, impossible ] But I don't care. Not again and especially not to you.

[ If glares could set people on fire, then the one Jenna got when she burst out laughing would have caused an inferno. Nathan scowls, sinking back slightly and getting the full force of her sidewards jolt just a moment later. He's serious! That's why they're having this conversation in person and not over the network, and she goes and laughs at him!

When she stops, he looks down at his lap instead, shoulders hunched up around his ears. ]

I feel the same way. I mean--I'm going to have to be keeping things clean on the network, making sure nobody says anything that gets them killed - people are going to hate me for that, by the way - but the truth is I wanna go on a witchhunt just as much as the rest of them.

He's out there laughing at us, and he'll go ahead and pick us off one by one if it suits him. I just want to get off this ship and--

[ He stops there. ]

Don't be that guy, Nathan. Laughing was more-- me going a little crazy from just everything, but it's because you want me to help you drag yourself over the coals and that's about the last thing on my agenda.

[ she tucks her arm through his, pulling him in as close as she can to her side as she can manage in this position. ] If you tell me you knew this could happen, you're a liar. Someone would have found us sooner or later-- you were just the guy who ended up doing something right before it happened. It could have been me and Ward, or Tony and the ship... we're not exactly a ship full of perfect, responsible adults all the time.

[ shaking her head, jenna sighs. ] No, I think I know what you mean.

[ because being home isn't something she can have, but protecting the people here is-- except, apparently, from the place they're stuck itself, and that knowledge burns. ]
